Hair graphics

Main Post:

I've spent almost four hours on the challenge with Raven, and it was great — one of the best fights I've ever had in any game in my life (aside from the fight with Scarlet). And the outfit looks really cool too.
However, I have an issue with the graphics. Everything looks awesome — except the hair. It appears pixelated and not smooth, regardless of the settings I've tried. The physics are great, but the hair texture itself looks pretty bad.
I'm playing on a good old GTX 1080 Ti, and I'm not sure if the problem lies with my aging GPU or a specific setting in the game. Hair from, for example, the NieR DLC looks a bit better, but it's still noticeably pixelated.
Does anyone have an idea what's causing this, or how I can fix it?

Top Comment: That's because of taa, it doesn't happen with Dlss/dlaa

Low resolution cross-hair graphics — Elder Scrolls Online

Top Comment: Since the last patch it looks like our cross-hair/resurrection counter/sneak visual has been sponsored by 8-bit consoles of yester-year! what gives?

Which graphic setting is repsonsible for hair quality?

Main Post:

Every human hair has this wierd gloss/shine/grease effect on it. Which graphical setting is responsible for it? I want it to be less greasy/glowy looking?

Top Comment: Iirc, it's tied to the hidden settings that the presets (low, medium, high, custom) govern. It's been years and might have changed, but medium used to be enough to remove the shine; after setting the preset you can go through and turn other settings back up manually, but the hidden settings are bundled with the presets (I think this effects overall shader quality as well).

Why does hair in my games look like this? RX6700XT GPU

Main Post: Why does hair in my games look like this? RX6700XT GPU

Top Comment: Because all the developers don't know (or doesn't want to bother with) the balance between TAA and ambient occlusion and transparent textures. You need to enable TAA to not have weird hairs. Ugly hair is good, fuck taa. Please view the wonderful video below for more explaination on the TAA problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEtX_Z7zZSY

Oblivion Remake, Hair Graphics

Main Post:

Anyone know how to improve how the hair in this image looks? I tried maxing the hair graphic setting but it doesn't change these weird visual effects.

Top Comment: I've got a RTX2060 and a Ryzen 5 8600G, I don't think it's our specs, hair has never been one of Bethesda's high points and I fear despite all the high marks the remake has gotten, this one bit is still beyond their grasp.

Strange hair graphics

Main Post:

Hi guys, I bought a new PC with RTX 3080, I have all graphical settings maxed (1440p resolution). After I started the game I see some weird artifacts on the main character's hair and their shadows. Is it supposed to look like that or something is wrong with my GPU? Or maybe you can fix it somehow in Nvidia software? It's kind of distracting because it's flickering.

Top Comment: It is temporal AA dithering, the unreal engine also uses that. It smoothes the borders of the hair textures to avoid ugly splotchy hair borders.

Hair and Beard Textures are Awful at max graphics

Main Post:

Everything is at max settings except the things I’ve read on other posts for the same problem! One thing on the other posts, it said to not run the AMD FSR 1.0... this IS the case because having it on any of its settings make it look even more like complete crap. The other thing the posts said was to turn on TAA antialiasing which has made it slightly better, but all beards and hair look like garbage and super patchy. Further context: all settings are at max (ultra or high) and texture filtering is x16. If I could get some help I’d love to finally start playing for the first time since the very beginning of early access! Edit to mention I have tried a ton of different combinations of lower graphics settings and higher ones (but not all so please suggest if that’s just what I have to do) all of them so far have had this awful pixilated hair and beards that look fuzzy and patchy.

Me and my friends have the same problem... I don’t think the graphic cards/settings are the issue here, could be a glitch of some sort because we all noticed it after latest patch - If you haven’t managed to find any solution that is? We have tried EVERYTHING 😂 but nothing works. Still looks patchy and blurry. It’s almost like the graphics are blocked out of the beards and hair because the rest looks great.

Baldur's Gate 3 - what settings are you running and does your hair look any better than mine?

Main Post: Baldur's Gate 3 - what settings are you running and does your hair look any better than mine?

Top Comment: My characters look beautiful in dialogue but absolutely atrocious out on the map. The hair in particular just hurts to look at. I've tried putting the graphics all the way down to low, all the way up to ultra just to see, and everything in between. Anyone have a good combination of settings that have been working for you? I have it capped at 40 fps, mostly medium settings in this screenshot. Proton GE 8-10. EDIT: I should also add I am docked on a 1080p monitor. It runs much better in handheld for me so far than on the monitor.

[No DAV Spoilers] Strand Hair setting unchangeable

Main Post:

I'm trying to optimize the settings so that my pc isn't overloaded by DAV but I can't seem to toggle the Stran Hair setting. It's just on ON but also disabled? Does that mean that it's in general off? Or just that I can't change the toggle?

My CPU is really struggeling with the game(12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-12600K)

Top Comment: Set preset to high or ultra and you can change it. It's one specific setting that enables / disables strand hair button but forgot which one and I am at work now so can't look. I did have same issue since I play on mediumish graphics. I do have it enabled now and it looks awesome. :)
